Welcome to Tailrace Marina

Visiting Tailrace Marina is a truly unique experience. Boaters will enjoy the quiet and relaxed atmosphere that this modern facility has to offer. Built on the incredibly historic site, known as “Tuckaseegee Foard” the marina continues to reflect the southern charm of the water-driven spinning mill that was constructed there in the 1880’s. In fact, the marina’s name is taken from the water diversion channels or “tailraces” that continue to provide a natural ambiance to the waterfront.

The marina is conveniently located in the scenic “river district” of Lake Wylie, just minutes away from uptown Charlotte and I-85.

The marina has 191 private and public slips varying in length from 20 feet to 28 feet, and includes both covered and open slips.

As you stroll along the meandering walkways that connect the public docks, you will feel at ease. Bring your picnic baskets and favorite beverage and enjoy one of the four picnic areas set with seating, tables and BBQ grills. Rent a pontoon, stand up paddle boards, kayaks or canoes at the ship’s store. Let us host your next event.
